Four verified-dead items in host-service, each confirmed by caller count before removal.

Removed

  • workspace.cloudList — a stub returning [] with zero callers repo-wide.
  • The cloud router (whoami) — its own source comment called it a test router to be removed; the only callers were its own integration test, deleted with it.
  • workspace_cloud_deletes table and workspaces.cloud_synced_at (host.db migration 0023) — leftovers from the dual-write cloud sync deleted in feat(desktop, mobile, trpc): replace Electric sync with plain tRPC + React Query #6328. Nothing read either one; the sole remaining write set cloud_synced_at to null.
  • The client-side findBackfillConflict precheck — the procedure has always returned conflict: null, so both desktop callers paid a round-trip to take a branch that could never fire. Removing it orphaned a "Repository already linked" AlertDialog that could never open, along with its state, its BackfillConflict type, and the onConflict prop chain — plus a hostId prop and a useNavigate whose only use was inside that dialog.

Deliberately kept

The findBackfillConflict procedure itself. Roughly 4,900 weekly users are on builds that still call it. Deleting it server-side would turn their precheck from a harmless null into a thrown error in the middle of project setup. It can go once those builds drain — the same gate as the other Electric-era cleanups.

Verification

lint exit 0 · typecheck exit 0 (37/37) · host-service 1079/1079 (full suite) · desktop renderer 1502/1502.

The first push was verified against only the src/trpc subset, which missed three tests asserting cloudSyncedAt was null on a freshly created row. That flag marked a row dirty for the cloud reconciler deleted in #6328, so with the column gone the assertions are meaningless; they were removed and the surrounding tests still cover what they were written for (a cloud failure never rolls back the local row).

Summary by CodeRabbit

  • Bug Fixes

    • Simplified project relocation and setup flows by removing outdated conflict checks and dialogs.
    • Improved project location handling during relocation.
  • Chores

    • Removed deprecated cloud synchronization data and related workspace procedures.
    • Removed obsolete cloud account routing and integration coverage.
    • Streamlined project setup and relocation configuration for a more consistent experience.

…b procedures

Four verified-dead items:

- workspace.cloudList: a stub returning [] with zero callers repo-wide
- the cloud router (whoami): its own comment called it a test router to remove; the only callers were its own integration test
- workspace_cloud_deletes table and workspaces.cloud_synced_at (host.db migration 0023): leftovers from the dual-write cloud sync deleted in #6328. Nothing read either; the sole remaining write set cloud_synced_at to null
- the client-side findBackfillConflict precheck: the procedure has always returned conflict: null, so both desktop callers paid a round-trip to take a branch that could never fire. Removing it orphaned a Repository already linked dialog that could never open, plus its state, type, and prop chain

The findBackfillConflict procedure itself stays: roughly 4,900 weekly users are on builds that still call it, and deleting it server-side would turn their precheck from a null result into a thrown error mid project setup. It can go once those builds drain.

📝 Walkthrough

Walkthrough

The PR removes project backfill-conflict handling, workspace cloud-sync schema state, and obsolete cloud-related TRPC procedures. It also updates migration metadata, branch update behavior, and related tests.

Changes

Project setup cleanup

Layer / File(s) Summary
Direct project setup and relocation flow
apps/desktop/src/renderer/routes/_authenticated/settings/v2-project/$projectId/components/V2ProjectSettings/...
Project location and setup flows no longer check for backfill conflicts, invoke conflict callbacks, show conflict dialogs, or navigate to linked projects. hostUrl remains the host context for relocation.

Workspace cloud cleanup

Layer / File(s) Summary
Workspace schema migration
packages/host-service/src/db/schema.ts, packages/host-service/drizzle/0023_gorgeous_pixie.sql, packages/host-service/drizzle/meta/*
The cloudSyncedAt workspace column and workspaceCloudDeletes table were removed. Migration snapshot and journal metadata were added.
Workspace synchronization behavior
packages/host-service/src/runtime/pull-requests/pull-requests.ts, packages/host-service/test/integration/workspace-create-*.integration.test.ts, packages/host-service/test/pull-requests.test.ts
Branch updates now modify only updatedAt. Tests now verify local workspace persistence without asserting cloudSyncedAt.
Cloud router removal
packages/host-service/src/trpc/router/router.ts, packages/host-service/src/trpc/router/workspace/workspace.ts
The application router no longer exposes the cloud route or the deprecated cloudList procedure.

Estimated code review effort: 3 (Moderate) | ~30 minutes

Merge Risk: ⚪ Minimal · up to c6431

This PR removes verified-dead cloud-sync code and a no-op client precheck while retaining the server procedure for older clients; no actionable merge-blocking risk remains after normal checks and review.

Update the affected tests for the removed field.

Remove the cloudSyncedAt assertions and mock expectations in the three host-service tests. The field no longer exists in the schema, so these tests will fail after migration 0023.

…precheck removal

Removing the findBackfillConflict precheck left proposeRelocate with a try/catch that built a host-service client, discarded it, and caught errors from a query that no longer existed. lint:fix had renamed the unused binding to _client rather than flagging the dead block, which hid it.
