Mobile is a Pro surface. Unpaid sessions land on a paywall screen instead of home, and the authenticated layout keeps them on home and settings so the App Review escape hatches stay reachable: sign out, switch to an org that has a plan, and delete the account (5.1.1(v), grace period disclosed in the confirm dialog).

The gate is UI-only — an earlier revision also walled the trpc protectedProcedure with a mobile-specific allowlist, and that has been removed along with its shared error constant, the client link that watched for the rejection, and the session-refresh registry. This PR now touches no server-side package; the diff is entirely apps/mobile. Tradeoff: this is a UX gate, not an entitlement boundary.

Settings

Rebuilt as one profile page instead of a hub with sub-screens — avatar, name, email, and a Free · Joined <month year> line, then Organization, Plan, Support, More, and Danger Zone groups. Sign out and Delete Account are inline. A version footer sits just above the home-indicator inset.

  • Account and Billing sub-screens, their routes, and the useActivePlan query are deleted; plan comes from session.session.plan, which customSession already computes.
  • Manage Plan opens a disclosure alert ("managed on the web at superset.sh") with a link to web billing, rather than a bare instruction to use another app.
  • Support rows link to docs, support email, and Discord.

Sign-in

  • Apple mark replaced with the canonical simple-icons path — the old one filled ~70% of its viewBox and rendered visibly smaller than the GitHub and Google marks.
  • Dev-only sign-in buttons sit above the review email link (they compile out of release builds).
  • Email/password sign-in link retained for the App Review demo account; sign-up stays disabled in production.

Fix

Stack.SearchBar placement="integratedButton" with allowToolbarIntegration={false} evicted the custom left toolbar view (the org switcher) a few seconds after mount on iOS 26. Moved to placement="stacked" with hideWhenScrolling={false}, which coexists with it.

Verified on an iOS 26 simulator against a local stack: paywall renders for a free org, the switcher sheet still reaches Settings and Log out, and the flattened settings page renders end to end.

Review Change Stack

📝 Walkthrough

Walkthrough

The PR adds mobile credential sign-in, client-version identification, unpaid-session paywall routing, organization switching, redesigned settings, account deletion, and updated App Store review configuration.

Changes

Mobile access and account management

Layer / File(s) Summary
Client identification and credential authentication
apps/mobile/lib/trpc/client.ts, packages/auth/src/server.ts, apps/mobile/screens/(auth)/sign-in/*, apps/mobile/store.config.js
The mobile tRPC client sends an x-superset-client version header. Email/password sign-in is available in all environments, while sign-up remains restricted. The sign-in screen adds credential prompts and updates social-button layout. App Store review now uses environment-provided demo credentials.
Paywall routing and organization access
apps/mobile/app/(authenticated)/_layout.tsx, apps/mobile/app/(authenticated)/(home)/index.tsx, apps/mobile/screens/(authenticated)/(home)/home-paywall/*, apps/mobile/screens/(authenticated)/(home)/home/HomeScreen.tsx, apps/mobile/app/(authenticated)/settings/billing.tsx
Unpaid sessions render the home paywall and redirect away from restricted routes. The paywall supports organization switching and session refresh. Billing route registration was removed. Home search now uses stacked placement and a workspace-only placeholder.
Settings and account deletion
apps/mobile/hooks/useDeleteAccount/*, apps/mobile/screens/(authenticated)/settings/SettingsScreen.tsx, apps/mobile/screens/(authenticated)/settings/components/SettingsSection/*
Settings now show grouped profile, organization, plan, support, and danger-zone sections. Account deletion calls the API, clears cached queries, signs out, and redirects to sign-in.

Estimated code review effort: 4 (Complex) | ~45 minutes

Mergeability Score: 🟡 Moderate · up to e1386

Free-plan users may still reach the authenticated mobile experience instead of the paywall, and release builds may lack the credentials needed for App Review access. These concrete correctness and release-readiness issues should be fixed or explicitly accepted before merging.

Use the shared paid-plan predicate.

"free" is truthy. A free-plan session can enter (authenticated) and bypass the mobile paywall. Use isPaidPlan(session?.session.plan) so this route guard matches the repository billing contract.

Fail when review credentials are absent.

demoRequired: true does not validate APP_REVIEW_EMAIL or APP_REVIEW_PASSWORD. The current fallback exports empty credentials when the metadata job lacks either variable. App Review then cannot access the required demo account.

Do not use x-superset-client as an authorization trust signal.

ctx.client originates from a client-controlled request header. An unpaid mobile user can omit or replace that header and access procedures outside the paywall allowlist.

Use a server-verifiable mobile credential or attestation for this client-specific restriction. Otherwise, apply the entitlement rule independently of this header.

🌐 Web query:

Better Auth 1.6.22 createAuthClient signOut client implementation failed request session state

💡 Result:

The "FAILED_TO_GET_SESSION" error during a signOut operation in Better Auth typically indicates that the authentication client is failing to include the required session cookies in its request to the server, or that the server is failing to receive them [1][2]. Because signOut explicitly attempts to clear session cookies [3], this error often occurs when the request is sent without valid authentication state [1]. To resolve or debug this issue in your implementation: 1. Verify Cookie Inclusion: Ensure that your authClient is configured to include credentials in requests. When using createAuthClient, ensure that your environment is set up to correctly handle cookies [1]. If you are using a custom API route or a proxy, ensure that Set-Cookie headers from the /api/auth/sign-out response are correctly forwarded back to the browser [3]. 2. Check Cross-Origin Configurations: If your client and server are on different domains or subdomains, confirm that credentials: "include" is set in your fetch options [1]. 3. Examine the Implementation: Standard client usage should look like the following [4][5]: await authClient.signOut({ fetchOptions: { onSuccess: => { router.push("/login"); // Redirect after successful logout }, }, }); 4. Review Recent Changes: Version 1.6.22 included various security and administrative updates [6]. Ensure your server-side instance is correctly configured to handle session invalidation and that no middleware is blocking the signOut request or stripping necessary headers [3]. If the error persists, it may also stem from external factors like component unmounting logic in frameworks (e.g., React) where a component tries to perform state updates after the session has already been invalidated [2]. Check your browser's Network tab to confirm if the sign-out request is actually reaching the server and what the specific response headers are [2].

Clear the local Better Auth session when signOut() fails.

A failed /sign-out request leaves useSession()'s cached session unchanged. RootLayout then rejects the (auth) guard, so router.replace("/(auth)/sign-in") cannot render the sign-in route. Clear the client session state before navigation.

Update the account deletion flow around signOut() and queryClient.clear() to

useSession() no longer reports an authenticated user before router.replace

Keep one React component per file.

Move AppleIcon, GithubIcon, and GoogleIcon into separate co-located component folders with matching index.ts barrels, then import them into SocialButton.tsx.

As per coding guidelines, “One component per file: No multi-component files” and single-use components must be co-located under the parent component.

Reinstates the pro gate for review: paywall tier + screen, one mobile
plan middleware on the x-superset-client header, credential sign-IN in
production for the review demo account (sign-up stays dev/preview-only),
quiet email sign-in link, gated store.config review details with
env-injected demo credentials. Unlike the first pass, the seed script
is NOT committed — the review account gets provisioned by a one-off
uncommitted run.
The paywall renders as the home screen's content when the active org
has no plan, reusing the real header org-switcher sheet — which also
carries the Settings entry, so org switching, plan visibility, and
account deletion all flow through the normal surfaces with no
duplicated affordances. The trpc middleware remains the actual wall;
deep-linked product routes surface its FORBIDDEN as error states.
Settings is now one profile page: avatar, name, email, and plan/joined
meta, then Organization, Plan, Support, More, and Danger Zone groups with
sign-out and account deletion inline. The account and billing sub-screens
and the useActivePlan query are gone — plan comes from the session — and
Manage Plan opens a disclosure alert linking to web billing. A version
footer sits above the home-indicator inset.

The paywall no longer has a server half: the trpc mobile middleware, its
shared error constant, the client link that watched for it, and the
session-refresh registry are removed. HomeIndex plus the authenticated
layout guard keep unpaid sessions on home and settings, so sign-out, org
switching, and account deletion stay reachable for App Review.

Also: canonical simple-icons Apple mark so provider icons match, dev
sign-in buttons above the review email link, and search moved to
placement="stacked" — integratedButton evicted the org switcher a few
seconds after mount on iOS 26.

🎯 Functional Correctness | 🟡 Minor | ⚡ Quick win

Make the placeholder match the searchable fields.

Line 347 says Search workspaces, but visibleWorkspaces still searches terminal session titles through sessionsMatch at Lines 125-147. Restore Search workspaces and sessions, or remove session-title matching if the narrower scope is intentional.
