[Bug] x64 build crashes on launch - missing @duckdb/node-bindings-darwin-x64

macOS Sequoia 15.7.4
MacBook Pro 16-inch, 2019
Processor: 2.6 GHz 6-Core Intel Core i7 (x64)
Superset version: 1.9.5 (x64.dmg)

Bug
The x64 build crashes immediately on launch with the following error:

Error: Cannot find module '@duckdb/node-bindings-darwin-x64/duckdb.node'

It appears the x64 DuckDB native binding is not included in the x64 build bundle.

Steps to reproduce

Download Superset-x64.dmg from the latest release
Install and open the app
App crashes immediately with the JS error above

Notes
Performed a full clean uninstall (app, Library/Application Support,
Caches, Preferences, Logs) and reinstalled fresh — same result every time.

Same here.

Same in version 1.9.7.

The error occurs when I apply the update. I tried installing it directly from the .dmg and via brew, but it's still failing.

@JockerGG reverted to 1.9.5 until we don't get a solution for this.

Apologies for the delay! I've gone ahead and shipped a patch for this - Going to release tonight with a fix as well 👍🏼

Still reproducing on desktop-v1.9.7 (the latest release as of 2026-05-19).

Environment

macOS (Darwin 24.6.0)

Superset version: 1.9.7 (Superset-x64.dmg downloaded from desktop-v1.9.7)

Error

Uncaught Exception:

Error: Cannot find module '@duckdb/node-bindings-darwin-x64/duckdb.node'

App crashes immediately on launch — identical to the original report. Full clean uninstall and reinstall does not help.

Root cause (same as #4666):
The x64 macOS build runs on arm64 CI runners. Bun only installs @duckdb/node-bindings-darwin-arm64, and copy-native-modules.ts does not fetch the x64 variant of DuckDB bindings. This is the same cross-compilation gap that was previously fixed for @ast-grep/napi (#2267) and @libsql (#2256), but DuckDB was missed.

Please reopen.
