[bug] cmd+shift+click on OSC 8 hyperlink in terminal opens two tabs in the default browser #4168

Closed as duplicate

Description

@eai04191

Describe the bug

When cmd+shift+click on a hyperlink rendered via an OSC 8 escape sequence in the workspace terminal (e.g. emitted by Claude Code output), two tabs for the same URL open in the default browser.

This is reported for OSC 8 hyperlinks specifically; markdown-rendered links in chat have not been observed to exhibit this.

Steps to reproduce

  1. Open a workspace terminal in Superset.
  2. Run a command whose output emits an OSC 8 hyperlink (e.g. a Claude Code response that includes a clickable URL via OSC 8).
  3. Hold cmd+shift and click the hyperlink.
  4. Two tabs for the same URL open in the default browser.

Expected behavior

Exactly one tab opens.

Actual behavior

Two tabs open.

Environment

  • Superset: 1.8.5 (latest stable)
  • macOS
  • Default browser: Arc

Adding configuration details and additional observations.

    Settings (Settings → URL links)

    Modifier Action
    Click Do nothing
    ⇧ Click Do nothing
    ⌘ Click Open in browser
⌘⇧ Click Open in system browser

    Observed behavior

    • ⌘ Click on an OSC 8 hyperlink: 1 tab opens in Arc (the default browser).
    • ⌘⇧ Click on the same OSC 8 hyperlink: 2 tabs open in Arc.

So with the current settings, ⌘ Click ("Open in browser") and ⌘⇧ Click ("Open in system browser") both end up in the system default browser (Arc). The duplication is specific to ⌘⇧ Click.

I have not investigated the source to confirm the cause; just reporting the observed behavior.

Closing as a duplicate of #5604, the consolidated tracker for stale terminal-input issues from the July 2026 stale-issue sweep (no activity since 2026-06-01). If this still applies on a current build, comment on #5604 and we'll reopen.
