[bug] terminal leaks ANSI terminal responses into shell after exiting Neovim #3685

Closed as duplicate

Description

@marten

Describe the bug

After launching and quitting Neovim inside Superset’s terminal, terminal response sequences are inserted into the next shell prompt as literal input.

Usually this is ^[[?62;4;9;22c, sometimes it's ^[[?1;2c instead. These look like terminal query responses?

Minimal reproduction:

nvim --clean -c 'q'
Image

Stack:

  • zsh 5.9, with -f to load without dotfiles
  • affected: nvim 0.11.5, nvim 0.12.2, with --clean to disabled dotfiles
  • unaffected: vim 9.1
  • other terminals like iterm2, ghostty, kitty are all fine

    Closing as a duplicate of #5604, the consolidated tracker for stale terminal-input issues from the July 2026 stale-issue sweep (no activity since 2026-06-01). If this still applies on a current build, comment on #5604 and we'll reopen.
