Add the following to the kernel configuration:

CONFIG_DM_BIO_PRISON=y
CONFIG_DM_PERSISTENT_DATA=y

see: linuxboot#1586

    CONFIG_DM_THIN_PROVISIONING=y is the important part of #1586, those other configs come along as dependencies
