Background

Stage 8 of #1667 connects the existing full text-to-video group to AIPerf. The native server supported images but lacked asynchronous video submission, polling and complete clip downloads. Closes #1675; follows merged #1792.

Exit Criteria

  • Qualify all three existing full profiles: minimax-h3-768p, wan21-t2v-1.3b, and wan22-ti2v-5b, using unchanged original family quality cases and complete published AIPerf downloads.
  • Preserve full resolution/frame count/steps, checkpoint pins, precision, reference criteria and merge rules. Add no models or specs.
  • Keep Cosmos3-Nano and LTX-Video's partial/L0-only profiles visible as coverage gaps. Other video Tasks remain separate workloads.

Existing checkpoint inventory

Reconciled with canonical main a5e7ec06b; no model/spec files change. All existing full video profiles declare legacy image_generation, served through their existing public IImageGeneration Task.

Existing checkpoint Full profile / immutable checkpoint revision Coverage
nvidia/Cosmos3-Nano No full model profile; 411f42a8fdfb8c5b2583cb8786e0938f49796eaa Explicit gap: existing partial/L0 profiles only; full-model/native capability onboarding excluded
Lightricks/LTX-Video No full model profile; 8984fa25007f376c1a299016d0957a37a2f797bb Explicit gap: existing partial/L0 profiles only; full-model/native capability onboarding excluded

Wan-AI/Wan2.2-TI2V-5B wan22-ti2v-5b; 921dbaf3f1674a56f47e83fb80a34bac8a8f203e Qualified at the original full settings below

Additional existing profiles remain inventory entries, not additional qualified checkpoints: cosmos3-nano-l0 (BF16), cosmos3-nano-l0-cp2 (BF16, distributed), ltx-video-l0 (FP16), wan22-ti2v-5b-l0 (BF16), wan21-t2v-1.3b-l0 (FP16), wan21-t2v-1.3b-l0-cp4 (FP16, distributed), and wan21-t2v-1.3b-l0-tp4 (FP32, distributed). Their pins match the corresponding checkpoint row. No untested precision/parallel configuration is claimed.

Supported controls are prompt, negative prompt, seed, inference steps, optional explicit guidance/CFG and replay latents, while size/frame count must match the built bundle. Omitted guidance/CFG retain the existing public Task defaults. FPS controls playback only. Audio output, input-image conditioning, duration overrides, streaming and batching are separate workloads.

Reproduce each result with its already-built, owning-family-validated bundle and fixed prompts (environment/input schema is in the qualifier README); the three-step serving guide uses plain pip-installed AIPerf:

python -m trtmc_aiperf_qual video-profile --environment environment.json --profile wan21-t2v-1.3b --bundle bundles/wan21-t2v-1.3b.bundle --inputs prompts/wan21-t2v-1.3b.jsonl --out artifacts/wan21-t2v-1.3b --request-count 2 --warmup-request-count 1
python -m trtmc_aiperf_qual video-profile --environment environment.json --profile wan22-ti2v-5b --bundle bundles/wan22-ti2v-5b.bundle --inputs prompts/wan22-ti2v-5b.jsonl --out artifacts/wan22-ti2v-5b --request-count 2 --warmup-request-count 1
python -m trtmc_aiperf_qual video-profile --environment environment.json --profile minimax-h3-768p --bundle bundles/minimax-h3-768p.bundle --inputs prompts/minimax-h3-768p.jsonl --out artifacts/minimax-h3-768p --request-count 2 --warmup-request-count 1

For exact original-case comparison, retain each owner’s canonical prompt and controls; Wan2.1 uses the original initial-latents replay bytes. MiniMax uses the complete prompt value in its existing t2va-example-1.json. Warmups are retained separately and excluded from measured latency/throughput.

Implementation

  • Reuse native worker admission and public IImageGeneration Task calls. Select video from core-owned build geometry, then write every ordered RGB frame after Task timing. Share the bounded provenance reader with the CLI; no family-private configuration is parsed.
  • Add strict JSON/multipart POST /v1/videos, GET job status and GET complete MP4 content. Bound jobs/storage/retention; preserve artifacts through input setup, native work, encoding and downloads. Reuse existing admission/session cleanup and handle shutdown before setup or execution completes.
  • Encode lossless RGB outside the Task call and verify every decoded frame, order, dimensions and presentation FPS. Native generation frame count stays fixed by the bundle; duration overrides are rejected.
  • Add opt-in capture to the published AIPerf download hook, retaining its normal video endpoint, submission and polling. video-profile binds actual downloaded bytes, complete frames, fixed controls, job/request IDs and metrics to separate native completion records. Client timeout is supplied once; disabled warmup flags are omitted.
  • Add a three-step guide using pip install aiperf==0.13.0, existing build guides and settings for other built models. FFmpeg/ffprobe with libx264rgb is an external serving prerequisite.

Validation

Commands and Results

  • python -m tools.ci pipeline source-quality: 307 passed against the final review-fix file contents; architecture/style passed. Exact committed 33cfdae detached review: 77 architecture/impact tests and 44 focused serving/qualifier tests passed, plus tools.model_ci validate and tools/test_impact.py --validate.
  • python -m pytest apps/server/python/tests apps/perf_serving/tests apps/aiperf_qual/tests --import-mode=importlib -q: 721 passed, two existing optional-dependency skips with the final review fixes in the prepared FFmpeg environment.
  • python -m tools.ci pipeline package: passed on exact 33cfdae for source archive, wheel, installation, installed SDK/CLI and native loading of 136 families.
  • Release native server build and ctest -R '^server_(video_worker|image_worker|image_edit_worker|sdk_worker)$' --output-on-failure: four passed with the final native code. Actual bundle-loading regressions cover absent/null image metadata, family-default image dimensions, strict integer/range/overflow-safe video geometry, SDK admission, ordered output and unchanged complete image pixels.
  • npm --prefix website run test:model-support on 33cfdae and npm --prefix website run build with final documentation contents: passed. The serving/qualifier CLI help also passed; its command schema is unchanged by the final review fixes.
  • Actual published AIPerf 0.13 CPU-fixture protocol check on earlier f706548 (protocol bytes unchanged by final geometry/routing fixes): passed submission/polling/download, exact capture bytes, all three frames and request/metric/completion joins. This is protocol evidence, separate from the real model runs below.
  • python -m pytest families/wan_t2v/tests/test_e2e.py --e2e-model wan21-t2v-1.3b -q: unchanged original full build/native/reference/contract passed, one requested/executed case, zero skips; controller 518.69 s.
  • python -m pytest families/wan2_2_ti2v/tests/test_e2e.py --e2e-model wan22-ti2v-5b -q: unchanged original full build/native/official-reference/comparison passed, one requested/executed case, zero skips; controller 796.26 s. An earlier attempt completed build/native but stopped on a Diffusers/PEFT import conflict. Only the isolated local environment changed to compatible PEFT 0.17; original requirements and criteria remain unchanged.
  • python -m pytest families/minimax_h3/tests/test_e2e.py --e2e-model minimax-h3-768p -q: unchanged original full build/native/reference/comparison passed, one requested/executed case, zero skips; three file tests passed, controller 1291.01 s.
  • python -m trtmc_aiperf_qual video-profile --environment <environment.yaml> --profile <profile> --bundle <validated.bundle> --inputs <prompts.jsonl> --out <output> --request-count 2 --warmup-request-count 1: current results below, concurrency 1 and two fixed prompts per model.

All three profiles completed nine clips / 786 frames, zero errors on exact serving head 33cfdae11cc80597c694b14485b01bc01943c441. Throughput is the actual measured AIPerf request_throughput (one request produces one complete clip), not a rate inferred from p50 or a playback-frame rate. Every decoded RGB frame, sequence order, dimensions, FPS, native/file/download hash and request/metric/completion identity was checked. Each model uses two measured requests plus one warmup with two fixed prompts. Published AIPerf 0.13 uses a 0.1-second sleep after each nonterminal status response (AIPERF_HTTP_VIDEO_POLL_INTERVAL, no override in this environment); GET latency adds to the effective polling interval. No polling/encoding/download time is subtracted from client latency.

MiniMax-H3: both canonical downloaded clips pass the unchanged owning _assert_parity against all original reference NPY frames and are exact RGB matches to the approved native clip. Six samples per unique actual prompt and six original reference/native pairs were visually inspected, including frame 123 after the late scene cut. The captain/bridge/fleet/flash/close-up progression agrees with the reference; the alternate full H3-ContextIR yields a red tunic and greener nebula.

Wan2.2: two measured + one warmup; all 363 downloaded frames match their native sequences. Both canonical clips also pass the unchanged owning _assert_parity against all original official-reference frames and are exact RGB matches to the approved native clip. Six temporal samples per unique prompt plus six reference/native pairs were visually inspected: coherent cat-boxing motion, scene and subject; the alternate prompt produces a distinct wider ring with green gloves.

Wan2.1: two measured + one warmup; both canonical HTTP clips are exact complete RGB-pixel matches to the native clip that passed the unchanged owning case. Six temporal samples per each unique actual prompt and the original reference/native middle-frame pair were visually inspected: coherent cat/sunset/water and distinct red-sailboat content.

Original model QA uses a separate immutable checkout at base a5e7ec06b; all family/core files are identical at the serving head. Checkpoint pins and bundle identity are verified against actual core provenance. Wan2.1 bundle SHA256 4421f0ac313fea40af5631aff5866f44030cbb0864018bedc4f7adecc8fffed7. Family-specific environments follow existing requirements: MiniMax Diffusers 0.40/Transformers 5.15; Wan2.2 Diffusers 0.39/Transformers 4.51.3/FlashAttention 2.8.3/NumPy 1.26.4/PEFT 0.17. All original family, core, manifests, thresholds, references, requirements and CI-rule files are unchanged.

Not Run / Remaining Gaps

All three original full owning cases, actual AIPerf clips, complete frame checks, canonical HTTP quality and visual assessments passed. Stable Community CI and CodeRabbit passed on current 33cfdae; both review conversations are resolved. Required TRTMC Internal CI / Automated premerge gate passed on exact 33cfdae11cc80597c694b14485b01bc01943c441 at 2026-10-18 21:34:41 UTC. Sanitized premerge result. Optional experimental Dev CI is still pending and is not counted as a passing check. GPU telemetry is excluded from these results; request completion and reported metrics are independently checked. Partial/L0-only Cosmos/LTX, other precision/parallel variants, image-to-video, audio output and world-model/video-segmentation Tasks are outside this workload. The two-request measurements are workflow evidence, not serving-capacity claims.

Notes For Future Readers

Review native Task/geometry dispatch, async job/input/output lifetimes, then full client-download qualification. Current full video families use the existing legacy public Task. Video capability requires explicit multi-frame geometry in core build provenance; older video bundles lacking it need rebuilding. Existing image bundles keep their image endpoint with absent/null provenance or family-default image dimensions. Invalid explicit multi-frame geometry is rejected before Task admission. FPS presents the already-built full frame sequence; it never changes native work. Client latency includes polling, encoding, complete download and optional capture-file writing; public_task_call_wall stays separate, with no estimated subtraction. The guide also works with plain PyPI AIPerf without the optional capture transport or an AIPerf checkout.

Risk level

  • Medium

This adds asynchronous artifact ownership and an external codec at the serving boundary. Focused tests exercise saturation, malformed output, failed encoding, reserved-worker failure, setup/shutdown races, cancelled downloads and complete lossless frame order. Original model contracts remain unchanged.

Add bounded video jobs and complete clip downloads to the native server. Qualify actual published AIPerf downloads against every native RGB frame and retain fixed full-profile controls, public Task timing, and explicit partial-model coverage gaps.

📝 Summary

Summary

Adds AIPerf profiling for the existing full text-to-video profiles: minimax-h3-768p, wan21-t2v-1.3b, and wan22-ti2v-5b. The new video-profile command submits requests to trtmc-server, polls asynchronous jobs, downloads complete MP4 clips, and checks request, completion, and frame identity. The server validates built video geometry and applies job and artifact limits. Download capture is opt-in.

The guide documents AIPerf 0.13.0 and the FFmpeg/ffprobe prerequisite, including libx264rgb. Cosmos3-Nano and LTX-Video remain partial/L0-only coverage gaps. Other video tasks remain outside this workload.

The PR objectives report that all three unchanged family quality cases passed. They also report AIPerf runs that completed nine clips and 786 frames with zero errors. The report describes checks for frame order, dimensions, FPS, hashes, and request, metric, and completion identity. Canonical clips reportedly passed the original family reference comparisons. Reported validation includes 307 source-quality checks and 717 tests passing with two optional-dependency skips on f706548, plus 47 focused tests on the exact reported head. The required internal premerge gate reportedly passed on that head. These results are author-reported, not independently verified here. MiniMax GPU telemetry is not claimed because its optional service dropped after missed heartbeats.

Architecture impact

  • Family-owned files: The change uses the existing full-model profiles and family correctness cases. It adds no full-model implementation or spec for Cosmos3-Nano or LTX-Video. The supplied evidence does not enumerate every profile, revision, native Task, supported control, or gap against current github/main.
  • Changed shared surfaces: apps/server/native_worker.* adds video geometry and frame output to the native worker path. apps/server/python/trtmc_server/ adds shared video request, job, polling, and download behavior. apps/perf_serving/trtmc_perf_serving/video_media.py adds shared encoding and frame-identity checks. apps/bundle_provenance.h centralizes bundle provenance reading.
  • Dependency directions and consumers: The Python server uses the shared media-serving package for encoding; the AIPerf qualifier uses it for decoded-frame identity checks. Server video tests also use its media helpers. The CLI uses the provenance helper. CMake links trtmc_server privately to trtmc_core, and registers a CPU video-worker test. The supplied evidence does not establish the full consumer set or compatibility impact for the shared worker and media changes.
  • Review outcome: HUMAN REVIEW REQUIRED. Shared worker, server, and media changes affect multiple consumers, and the available evidence does not resolve their full blast radius. No current review findings or severity counts were supplied, so counts are unavailable. This outcome does not assert that a violation was found.

Adds native and HTTP video generation for multi-frame bundles, including asynchronous jobs, MP4 encoding, polling, downloads, and lifecycle limits. Adds video endpoint discovery and an AIPerf profiling workflow that validates clip and frame identities and records profiling artifacts.

Full details: Out of Scope Changes check

Explanation

The changes stay within [#1675]. Server video jobs, native frame handling, media validation, AIPerf profiling and capture, inventory, compatibility fixes, tests, and guides support the requested qualification workflow. The change adds no model, variant, numerical gate, test exclusion, or unrelated video workload. Cosmos3-Nano and LTX-Video remain documented as coverage gaps.

Full details: Family Ownership Boundary

Explanation

No cross-family dependency is introduced. The diff changes no families/** files. The new video path uses shared catalog, request-mapping, media, worker, and registry mechanics. video_profile.py:73-95 selects one catalog entry and hashes that entry's own DSO; bundle_identity verifies the bundle against that same manifest. The native worker uses the shared IImageGeneration contract at native_worker.cpp:622-649 and generic provenance geometry at native_worker.cpp:1098-1129. endpoint_catalog.py:21-39 and endpoint_profile.py:237-244 add task-based workload routing, not family-specific switches or imports. The inventory tests name multiple profiles to check coverage and exclusion, but do not reuse another family's implementation or validation artifact.

Full details: Benchmark Validation Integrity

Explanation

The new video benchmark keeps distinct timing scopes. apps/server/native_worker.cpp:644-649 measures model_call_ms only around IImageGeneration::generate_image; frame PNG writing starts after that timer at lines 572-591. video_profile.py reports this as task_call_ms and reports AIPerf request_latency separately. The guide states that client latency includes submission, polling, encoding, and download, while Task timing excludes external encoding. The profile validates request IDs, controls, encoded hashes, decoded frame order, dimensions, FPS, and request/phase counts before writing the summary. Request counts remain separate from frame counts. Existing image profiling uses the same task-call versus client-latency accounting contract, and focused video worker, server lifecycle, transport, and profile tests cover the new consumers. No changed path compares the two timing scopes as equivalent implementations or omits validation from one side of a comparison.

Full details: Shared Change Blast Radius

Explanation

The PR identifies a concrete model-agnostic need: the native server lacked shared asynchronous video submission, polling, complete downloads, bounded retention, and timing records. It identifies affected consumers in the description and diff: trtmc-server, AIPerf 0.13, ModelRegistry, the worker protocol, endpoint catalog/profile dispatch, existing image bundles, and their tests. The diff shows generic routes and lifecycle code in apps/server/python/trtmc_server, generic VideoGeometry and provenance handling in the worker, and generic AIPerf transport/profile support. Compatibility impact is explicit and tested: default VideoGeometry preserves existing callers, legacy image bundles without video metadata remain image-only, and SDK image bindings reject explicit multi-frame geometry. The description reports source-quality, Python, focused, CTest, protocol, and three family qualification results; the repository adds server, worker, catalog, profile, transport, and compatibility tests. The shared API, admission, lifecycle, and client integration cannot remain family-owned because they serve multiple family bundles and are implemented above the family Task implementations.

Full details: Description check

Explanation

The description is complete and matches the required template. It covers background, exit criteria, implementation, change categories, validation commands and results, environment details, remaining gaps, self-review, risk, and notes for future readers.

Full details: Docstring Coverage

Explanation

Docstring coverage is 6.80% which is insufficient. The required threshold is 80.00%. Docstring coverage is scoped to functions touched by this diff. Analyzed 103 functions across 24 files. (1 skipped: 1 unsupported.)

Resolution

Write docstrings for the functions missing them to satisfy the coverage threshold.

Full details: Shared Semantic Neutrality

Explanation

Shared validation is model-specific. The new apps/aiperf_qual/tests/test_endpoint_catalog.py:75-82 hardcodes the three qualified profiles, two checkpoint gaps, and excluded families. The new apps/aiperf_qual/tests/test_endpoint_profile.py:30-34 hardcodes three video profiles and one Stable Diffusion profile to validate command routing. These tests are outside the excluded family-owned, runtime, C++ test, and E2E directories. The changed production classification itself is metadata-driven (endpoint_catalog.py:34-39), but the added shared validation evidence is coupled to current model inventory.

Resolution

Move exact profile, checkpoint, and family qualification assertions to family-owned tests or a family-owned inventory contract. Keep shared tests model-agnostic: use synthetic descriptors to test is_video_model, image/video partitioning, and command routing. Remove the hardcoded model and checkpoint names from apps/aiperf_qual/tests/test_endpoint_catalog.py and test_endpoint_profile.py.

Full details: Linked Issues check

Explanation

Issue [#1675] requires three full-model qualifications, native asynchronous video submission and polling, complete artifacts, unchanged family checks, inventory, and reproducible records. The current code adds /v1/videos, bounded VideoJobs, frame and MP4 validation, video-profile joins, inventory classification, legacy bundle compatibility, command routing, tests, and documentation. The reported three-model AIPerf and family results ran at the previous reviewed head f706548, not at current head 33cfdae. The description states that fresh package, all-model AIPerf, and current-head CI validation remain in progress.

Resolution

Provide final current-head evidence for all three published AIPerf video runs and the required CI/package validation. Confirm that the unchanged family correctness cases and complete artifact checks still pass at current head.

- Line 29: Update endpoint_profile.profile to reject the resolved “videos” group
before creating the output directory or writing provenance, and direct users to
the supported video-profile command for text-to-video workloads; keep the
existing image-group handling unchanged.

Review comments at @apps/server/native_worker.cpp:
- Around line 1083-1096: In the run_bundle_worker geometry setup, treat a
missing or null video_num_frames value as one, and validate width, height, and
the geometry size limit only when frames exceed one. Avoid requiring valid image
dimensions for single-frame image bundles, while still rejecting invalid frame
counts and handling absent or non-object build provenance safely.

Comment thread apps/server/native_worker.cpp Resolved
Treat missing or null frame metadata as the existing image workload. Validate dimensions only for explicit multi-frame video builds, including overflow-safe limits. Route legacy and semantic video profiles to video-profile before creating output.

Cover actual native bundle loading with optional image provenance and invalid video geometry, and verify command routing for all three full video profiles.
