Background

Image chat selected an inherited text interface instead of the bundle's declared vision-language Task. Serve one original image plus one question through existing trtmc-server and pip-installed AIPerf. Refs #1672, part of #1667.

Exit Criteria

All nine existing native profiles below pass owning-family E2E, the unchanged selected-corpus gate and real AIPerf chat requests. Preserve full answers, original-image identity and native generated-token counts. Closes #1672 after integration merge under the corrected existing-model-only GB300 scope. No checkpoint, model spec/manifest, precision/parallel variant or numerical threshold is added or changed relative to main. The seven newly introduced InternVL profiles and their profile-only extension have been removed from the final diff.

Implementation

  • Dispatch bounded RGB PNG/JPEG image chat through the declared primary legacy IVisionLanguageGeneration or SDK ImagesTextToText, retaining declared configuration fields and family output defaults. Reject secondary-capability substitution, multi-image/multi-turn/system prompts, streaming, stop and thinking controls. No extra server or AIPerf checkout.
  • Extend the existing endpoint inventory/profiler with built-in AIPerf chat. Verify complete native/HTTP answers and counts, join request/metric records and separate warmup. Fingerprint source contents (including already-dirty files), bundle, inputs and local tokenizer files before/after the run; preserve raw records and refuse success on mutation. Hub overrides require an immutable revision.
  • Keep corrections scoped to existing models: Qwen smart resize/dynamic geometry and Qwen3-VL BF16 position rounding; DeepSeek aspect-preserving padding; LocateAnything tokenizer packaging/reference framing; standard Lance tokenizer export; and InternVL serialized-plan lifetime. The two existing InternVL profiles preserve main's checkpoint-processor tiling and context 4096. Tiled bundles reuse the existing dynamic-Sq network for prefill and one-token decode with independent contexts. The removed benchmark qualification framework stays removed. No new InternVL checkpoint or Qwen3-backed InternVL extension remains.
  • Check TensorRT's setInputShape result before updating runtime shape state. A real Qwen boundary probe exposed silent execution after a rejected shape; the runtime now reports failure and supports the next valid request. Dynamic Qwen profiles admit upstream rounding, including tight unaligned pixel budgets, without changing resize targets or the canonical profile bounds. Reject empty decoded images before invoking a Task; validate revision-only tokenizer overrides as immutable pins.
  • Bootstrap the unchanged Lance FlashAttention 2.8.3 build with psutil==7.0.0 in its family-owned dependency image; model/reference operators and family requirements stay unchanged.
  • Provide a three-step Qwen usage guide that links existing build instructions, plus guidance for other already-built models. Phi4's independent tokenizer helper is supplied by prerequisite fix(phi4): stage engine plans and export AIPerf tokenizer #1764, including its chat template and independently validated staged-plan memory fix.

Validation

  • Latest CI-only fix bdf62ed9da1ba9909f20c0bb4b549bacb63c2ce3 pins ml_dtypes==0.5.4 inside the Lance family dependency image so its existing NumPy 1.26.4 requirements pass pip check against the public base. An isolated reproduction fails with base ml_dtypes 0.6.0 and passes with 0.5.4; all 104,102 finite BF16 conversion samples match the previous package and Torch bit-for-bit. The compatible full family environment passes pip check and 20 CPU tests. Fresh source archive, native wheel and installed SDK/CLI validation pass for all 136 families at this head; the targeted Lance full model/reference rerun passed (one requested/executed case, zero skips). Required Internal CI passed on this exact head (automated result); Stable Community CI, CPU/docs/source checks, DCO, PR Metadata and CodeRabbit passed. The non-required public Dev run failed on the known DeepSeek L4 GPU OOM and then lost SSH during Lance FlashAttention wheel preparation; later cases were not run. Public instance release and independent cleanup succeeded. Unchanged local cases and the compatible current-head Lance rerun passed, as required by the owner-approved hardware handling; no public failure is relabelled as a pass.

  • Model/runtime validation at 1495d31cfd41d7b1c5d0f3d68eeca38c4a5cdf2e (all model/runtime/test source is unchanged by the latest CI-only fix) restores the InternVL coverage assertion to main after removing the unrequested profiles. Local checked-in premerge stages pass: 307 source-quality tests, 1,550 Python tests (two existing skips), 266 C++ tests, and 165 affected-family CPU tests. The fresh source archive/wheel and installed SDK/CLI checks pass for all 136 families; all seven existing premerge cases across the six vision families pass through the unmodified E2E runner on a fresh native wheel from this source (requested/executed=7, skipped=0). Core dynamic-input and Qwen-VL BF16 GPU regressions pass. Reproduction and validation. GitHub checks for this head must complete separately.

Commands and Results

  • Additional local public-hardware verification at the earlier e12fbc044 source: python -m pytest families/<owner>/tests/test_e2e.py::test_official_checkpoint_e2e --e2e-testcase <case>: DeepSeek deepseek-ocr-l0 PASS 348.39s; Qwen3-VL-8B PASS 567.41s, each one executed/non-skipped case from e12fbc0441e648b9ebfa3ce8ebf7b2bea2e81ba6. Original references, precision and thresholds are unchanged. Native C++ runtime sources match the frozen f6fe94a53a38db1c8d36eb032895e2fad42f91a4 runtime; binary fingerprints are unchanged. Public failure and fresh local verification.
  • Each profile: python -m pytest families/<owner>/tests/test_e2e.py::test_official_checkpoint_e2e --e2e-testcase <profile>: nine scoped non-skipped passes, with served bundle/XML evidence retained. Both Qwen3 bundles were rebuilt and passed again after the canonical dynamic maximum correction. Later custom-budget bounds retain the canonical shapes, as checked separately.
  • Each profile: python -m trtmc_aiperf_qual endpoint-profile --environment <prepared.yaml> --profile <profile> --bundle <validated.bundle> --inputs <original-inputs.jsonl> --max-output-tokens <10|32|300> --out <new-directory>; Lance/Phi4 add their exported --tokenizer. PyPI AIPerf 0.13.0, built-in chat, concurrency1, random seed0, 5 warmups +50 measured requests per model: 450 measured +45 warmup, 495 full native/HTTP matches, zero client errors/unmatched identities/missing metric exports. All ten selected inputs are measured by every run.
  • python -m pytest apps/server/python/tests apps/aiperf_qual/tests apps/perf_serving/tests --import-mode=importlib -q: 635 passed, 2 optional-dependency skips. Fresh scope-correction architecture/family CLI/impact checks: 139 passed; focused InternVL: 34 passed, 4 existing explicit-selector E2E skips; Qwen geometry/precision: 40 passed; existing numerical and reference gates remain unchanged. Separate native tiling tests verify row-major tiles, thumbnail inclusion and image-token accounting. Model CI/impact validation and git diff --check pass; current-head public checks must complete separately.
  • Native CTest: 5 CPU checks and 1 GPU shape-rejection/recovery check pass, including SDK fixture/process dispatch, the real decoder/worker unreadable-image regression, and InternVL normalization/tiling. The old worker fails the new empty-image regression. The old profiler fails all three new mutable revision-only controls. Canonical Qwen profile bounds match the already-qualified bundles; custom unaligned pixel budgets have separate owning CPU coverage.
  • New Qwen3 2B/8B bundles accept both 200:1 orientations (788 patch rows/197 merged tokens); vision outputs pass the existing finite/nonzero gate and normal-image outputs repeat unchanged afterward. This is shape admission/stability evidence, not a new boundary text-quality claim.
  • Independent live negative controls mutate an already-dirty source file and a local tokenizer: each preserves all55 raw client records and refuses a success summary. Phi4 export preserves all200,029 vocabulary entries, 8 raw token/framing probes, its 423-character template and 2 rendered-chat/ID probes across family Transformers4.48.2 and the published client environment.

Corpus is conversion parity against the unchanged owning reference, not gold VQA accuracy. Every row passes its original per-sample and corpus gates; the table gives the actual10/10 or9/10 result. Qwen/InternVL/Phi4/Lance use10 original Imagenette JPEGs, LocateAnything the same images with its own box/point question/gate, and DeepSeek10 original OCRBench V1 crops. Revisions, source selections, complete observations and raw requests are retained outside Git.

HTTP includes transport; Task time includes family preprocessing and generation. Build/load/startup/warmup are excluded. Measurements are one campaign on a shared host, without capacity/repeatability or reference-relative speedup claims. Output lengths differ and native counts include terminal tokens; prompt/image token counts are unavailable. Build precision is a request: InternVL/Lance/LocateAnything retain FP32 vision; DeepSeek retains FP32 decoder layers6–12 and mixed family boundaries. Both existing InternVL profiles use the checkpoint processor’s tiling policy (up to twelve 448-pixel local tiles plus a thumbnail), with context 4096. The frozen FP32 corpus references retain the same checkpoint, original image, question, generation controls and family environment. Current full family E2Es independently execute their owning reference again. Pixel preprocessing remains independently implemented. DeepSeek native uses one768-pixel view versus the unchanged1024-pixel crop-mode reference. No equal-visual-budget claim.

VQA uses frgfm/imagenette@a8a496123b40fa739da2acf9b0dae339d30c7bae metadata and the original imagenette2-320.tgz, SHA256 569b4497c98db6dd29f335d1f109cf315fe127053cedf69010d047f0188e158c. Ask What is the main object in this image? Answer in one word., max10, temperature1/top_k1. LocateAnything uses the same bytes with Locate a single instance that matches the following description: {label}. and max32, using the Imagenette class label.

OCR uses echo840/OCRBench@92a54bd1384387c178d5a07140a2d85e0a3d12e1, rows0–9 of data/test-00000-of-00001.parquet, original embedded image bytes and their question what is written in the image?, max300. This is an explicit OCRBench V1 selection, distinct from the historical V2 recipe removed from main. All runs use the unchanged family conversion gate, rather than gold-label model accuracy.

Hardware, Environment, and Revisions

Base a832817e6ed9603b100bbff25dce3f04c65beaca; reviewed head e12fbc0441e648b9ebfa3ce8ebf7b2bea2e81ba6. Fresh exact-head public and protected CI are pending; older-head results are stale and no new-head premerge pass is claimed.

GB300/SM103, aarch64, CUDA toolkit13.3.33, driver580.105.08, TensorRT11.1.0.106, Python3.12.3, Torch2.12.0+cu130. Server: FastAPI0.115.12/Pillow12.3/Pydantic2.14.1/Uvicorn0.34. Family environments retain their own declared dependencies; no global dependency changes.

The two retained InternVL transports/builds/E2Es use f6fe94a53a38db1c8d36eb032895e2fad42f91a4. The seven unaffected transports retain their actual epochs: Qwen3 2B/8B and Phi4 798589ea05e6c39b15c8a48e92e565e25e7d9e86; DeepSeek 7a4f3239ee60075937f32b649d12ce50c364f470; Qwen2.5/Lance/LocateAnything 0ce210596cadfa47e1b8641357a85aaa62281d93. Every run has clean/stable source, bundle and tokenizer provenance. Later error-path/override/custom-profile fixes have separate regression controls; canonical shape bounds and valid-image behavior remain unchanged. Results are not relabelled as benchmarks on the final PR head. Exact-head CI is evaluated separately.

Not Run / Remaining Gaps

The owner clarified existing models/specs only, retaining the GB300 restriction. The scope is nine existing native normal vision-language profiles. Seven newly added InternVL profiles, their thresholds, their public-capacity policy and their Qwen3-only weight-mapping extension are removed. Existing model manifests/specs/thresholds and existing test eligibility remain identical to main. Edge-backed routes without an eligible pre-existing native vision-language spec, additional precision/distributed variants, streaming/TTFT/ITL, multi-image and multi-turn workloads are outside this qualification.

Public L4 OOM limitations for the existing DeepSeek diagnostic and Qwen3-VL-8B remain visible; they have not been skipped or converted to passes. InternVL3.5-4B is removed because its new model spec was outside scope. Lance's unrelated build dependency failure has a family-owned bootstrap fix; its paired metadata probe fails without bootstrap and succeeds with it, while a fresh full x86 image build remains CI validation.

The fresh CPU suites pass in the prepared dependency environment. Initial local collection attempts lacked AIPerf/plugin imports, and a host-only run lacked Torch; rerunning in the existing container with the PyPI client and Torch overlay produced 635 passes and the same two optional-dependency skips. No tests or expectations were changed to resolve those environment errors.

Notes For Future Readers

Merged prerequisite #1764 supplies the Phi4 tokenizer export and staged-plan/allocator corrections. This diff changes five model families, within Dev CI's existing limit. No CI guard or numerical criterion was relaxed. Review shared Task dispatch/provenance first, then the independent family fixes and guide. Rebuild older Qwen, InternVL and DeepSeek bundles; their old geometry/framing cannot establish original-image qualification. Keep model semantics out of shared serving/core code.

The Lance CI image bootstraps psutil==7.0.0 for FlashAttention source metadata and selects the existing builder dependency ml_dtypes==0.5.4 for compatibility with the unchanged NumPy 1.26.4 family requirements. The family-owned dependency image uses the existing trusted CI extension point. No new model checkpoint/spec, bundled checkpoint or redistributed weights are introduced. Existing checkpoint terms continue to apply to user-built bundles.

Risk level

  • Low
  • Medium
  • High

Family geometry/framing fixes require bundle rebuilds. Both existing InternVL profiles retain main's context 4096 and processor tiling. Existing model specs, numerical gates and test eligibility are unchanged; no public CI OOM exclusion is added. The generic runtime reports rejected TensorRT shapes instead of continuing with stale shapes; failure/recovery and six-family valid-request checks cover that behavior. Fresh exact-head CI and any review follow-up remain merge prerequisites.
Owner-approved public-hardware handling: retain existing model contracts and repository merge requirements. Demonstrated non-required public OOM/hardware failures may be accepted after unchanged local correctness passes are documented. Required Internal CI must pass on this PR head; a pending result is not a pass. No CI exclusion or status override is introduced.

📝 Summary

Summary

This change adds single-image vision-language chat through trtmc-server and adds AIPerf profiling support. The server accepts one user message with text and one embedded RGB PNG or JPEG image. It rejects unsupported request controls and media shapes. Native workers dispatch to the bundle’s vision-language task and return the full answer, token counts, timing, and image dimensions.

The profiling tools add vision endpoint discovery, tokenizer selection, source and tokenizer identity checks, and image throughput reporting. A new guide describes the workflow for an already-built bundle.

Family-owned changes update preprocessing and runtime behavior in DeepSeek OCR, InternVL, Lance, LocateAnything, and Qwen-VL. The change also adds family-level regression tests and adjusts Lance’s CI dependency image.

The linked issue limits the integration to nine existing GB300 profiles. The reported qualification covers 450 measured and 45 warmup requests, with all 495 native and HTTP responses matched and no client errors. These results demonstrate integration parity, not gold VQA accuracy. Fresh exact-head protected CI and merge remain pending. Public L4 memory failures for DeepSeek OCR and Qwen3-VL-8B remain reported; no test exclusions or L4 qualification are claimed.

Architecture impact

  • Family-owned files: DeepSeek OCR, InternVL, Lance, LocateAnything, and Qwen-VL own their model preprocessing, build, runtime, tokenizer, reference, and family test changes.
  • Shared surfaces: apps/server changes the chat schema, request protocol, registry capability validation, and worker dispatch. apps/aiperf_qual changes endpoint discovery and profiling. Core TensorRT runtime code adds dynamic-shape error handling.
  • Dependency direction: Applications call shared server and runtime APIs. Family-specific behavior remains in family implementations. Lance adds psutil and pins ml_dtypes in its CI dependency image. No new family-to-family dependency is described.
  • Affected consumers: The server schema and worker changes can affect all chat clients and all bundles registered with the server. Core dynamic-shape handling can affect all TensorRT module consumers. AIPerf endpoint and identity changes can affect all endpoint groups that use the profiling CLI.
  • Unresolved blast radius: The supplied evidence does not establish compatibility across all server request consumers, all dynamic-shape callers, or all profiling endpoint groups. Exact-head protected CI is also pending.

HUMAN REVIEW REQUIRED — the available evidence does not resolve the material shared-surface compatibility questions or current-head merge status. This outcome is not a finding of a defect or proof of safety.

This pull request adds single-image vision chat to the server and AIPerf profiling. It also updates DeepSeek-OCR and Qwen-VL image processing, InternVL plan construction, tokenizer packaging, and TensorRT dynamic-shape validation.

Explanation

The reviewed InternVL oracle file contains only the four existing profile cases, and its merge-base diff is empty. This removes the previously identified seven excluded profile entries. The reported server, AIPerf, family regression, test, documentation, and Lance dependency changes support the existing-model integration requested by #1672. No unrelated change is demonstrated.

Full details: Family Ownership Boundary

Explanation

No family-ownership violation is introduced. Changed family files use only same-family implementations and fixtures: for example, DeepSeek's new test links trtmc_model_deepseek_ocr and its own test source, while InternVL, LocateAnything, and Qwen tests import only their own families.* modules. InternVLProcessor and Qwen2TokenizerFast are external Transformers dependencies. The root CMake changes register shared server tests and use the generic language_family API fixture. The new vision endpoint task set and worker capability are model-agnostic contracts, not family-specific registry or switch entries. No changed line references another TRTMC family implementation, fixture, oracle, comparator, or validation artifact.

Full details: Shared Semantic Neutrality

Explanation

Shared changes remain model-agnostic. apps/server/native_worker.cpp dispatches only on the declared IVisionLanguageGeneration or ImagesTextToText task and forwards family-provided task configuration and outputs. The existing task contracts were present in the base revision (core/runtime/include/trtmc/task.h:549-555 and core/api/include/trtmc/language.hpp:646-650). The HTTP path validates generic single-image chat, routes through the declared vision_language_generation capability, and preserves generic image dimensions and native token counts (apps/server/python/trtmc_server/app.py:680-734, protocol.py:38-61). The AIPerf additions map declared task IDs to the standard chat endpoint and verify generic complete responses and input identity without family conditionals or model names (endpoint_catalog.py:20-28, endpoint_profile.py:32-38,103-179). The TensorRT change is a generic dynamic-shape error check and does not add model semantics. The changed shared-code search found no family/model conditionals. Model-specific preprocessing, engine composition, and runtime behavior remain in the family-owned directories.

Full details: Shared Change Blast Radius

Explanation

PASS. The description identifies a model-agnostic need: single-image chat through the existing trtmc-server and PyPI AIPerf, with one shared path for legacy IVisionLanguageGeneration and SDK ImagesTextToText bundles. The diff identifies the affected consumers and behavior: shared request schemas, chat_image, registry capabilities, native-worker dispatch, endpoint catalog/profiling, and shared TensorRT dynamic-shape handling. It preserves text-only chat and rejects unsupported image-request shapes. The description explains why these changes are not family-owned: HTTP/media adaptation, AIPerf workload handling, worker protocol dispatch, and TensorRT runtime validation are shared concerns; families provide the declared Task and configuration. Repository evidence includes apps/server/python/tests/test_vision.py, apps/server/tests/test_vision_worker.cpp, SDK worker tests, profiler/provenance tests, and core/runtime/tests/test_trt_module_dynamic_input.cpp, with the new tests registered in CMakeLists.txt.

Full details: Description check

Explanation

The description covers all required template sections, including background, exit criteria, implementation, change categories, validation commands and results, environment details, remaining gaps, self-review, future notes, and risk rationale.

Full details: Linked Issues check

Explanation

Issue #1672 requires all nine existing GB300 profiles, PyPI AIPerf chat coverage, single-image nonstreaming dispatch, unchanged model criteria, automated tests, and the Qwen3-VL-2B guide. The PR description reports these implementations and qualification results. The current reviewed head still has exact-head required public and protected checks pending, so the issue's current-head validation requirement is not complete.

Resolution

Complete the focused checks and unchanged required public/protected merge checks on bdf62ed9da1ba9909f20c0bb4b549bacb63c2ce3. Record any allowed hardware failures without exclusions. Then resolve review and merge the PR.

Full details: Docstring Coverage

Explanation

Docstring coverage is 18.99% which is insufficient. The required threshold is 80.00%. Docstring coverage is scoped to functions touched by this diff. Analyzed 158 functions across 50 files. (1 skipped: 1 unsupported.)

Resolution

Write docstrings for the functions missing them to satisfy the coverage threshold.

Full details: Benchmark Validation Integrity

Explanation

The prior workload-mismatch defect remains. The added vision profiler builds native requests with top-level max_new_tokens, temperature, and top_k at apps/aiperf_qual/trtmc_aiperf_qual/endpoint_profile.py:136-145, then adds only image_path before forwarding the request unchanged through TrtmcWorkerBackend.invoke at :265-278. The legacy worker parses generation controls only from request["config"] and otherwise uses defaults (apps/server/native_worker.cpp:82-115, 487-495). The SDK vision path also parses only nested config and returns an empty config when it is absent (:299-314). The HTTP vision path sends nested config containing max_new_tokens and sampling fields (apps/server/python/trtmc_server/app.py:716-725). Therefore native verification and HTTP/AIPerf profiling can use different token limits and generation controls. The new endpoint tests validate output comparison but do not inspect native request construction or propagation.

Resolution

Construct the vision native request as {"prompt": prompt, "image_path": image_path, "config": {"max_new_tokens": token_limit, "temperature": 1.0, "top_k": 1}}, plus any other declared generation controls. Use this request for both legacy IVisionLanguageGeneration and SDK vision tasks. Add endpoint-profile tests that capture the native request, assert the nested request shape, and verify that the token limit and SDK fields reach the worker before output comparison.

Stage 5 complete: PR #1761 merged as 88ceb9f5217a9f9318e3393a404761e09891194c from bdf62ed9da1ba9909f20c0bb4b549bacb63c2ce3. All nine existing normal native GB300 vision-language profiles passed unchanged owning-family correctness and real PyPI AIPerf qualification (450 measured +45 warmup requests; all495 complete native/HTTP matches; zero client errors). The unchanged required Internal CI gate passed. All seven existing premerge cases passed at 1495d31 with no requested skips; model/runtime/test source is unchanged by the final CI-only fix, and the full Lance case passed again on the final source with compatible dependencies and its unchanged reference. The nine-model AIPerf timing table retains the actual measurement source epochs. No contract, model spec, threshold, test eligibility or repository merge rule was changed. Current-head source/CPU/docs/review checks passed; experimental public GPU status is recorded separately and is not relabelled as a pass.

🗄️ Data Integrity & Integration | 🟠 Major | ⚡ Quick win

Include generation settings in the vision request identity.

input_key("vision", ...) uses only the question and image. AIPerf 0.13.0 structured datasets can override --extra-inputs per request. A request with the same question and image but different max_tokens, temperature, or top_k can therefore select the native result generated with the canonical settings. check_output() does not detect this when the answer and completion-token count happen to match.

Require the effective generation settings in each raw request to match the canonical payload before accepting the record. Handle omitted fields using AIPerf's documented defaults rather than assuming they match.

260-261: 🚀 Performance & Scalability | 🔵 Trivial | 💤 Low value

Reset the CUDA graph only after TensorRT accepts the new shape.

update_dynamic_shape resets the CUDA graph at Lines 254-255. It does this before setInputShape runs. If TensorRT rejects the shape, the function now throws. The stored entry.shape stays at the old value, and the captured graph is already gone. The next valid request with the old shape recaptures the graph. This is only a performance cost. It is not a correctness bug. The test at the other file shows recovery works.

Move the graph reset after the successful setInputShape call to keep the graph for rejected shapes.

Proposed change

-        cuda_graph_->reset();
     nvinfer1::Dims dims;
     dims.nbDims = static_cast<int32_t>(new_shape.size());

         dims.d[d] = new_shape[d];

         throw std::invalid_argument("TensorRT rejected dynamic shape for tensor '" + name + "'");
+ if (use_cuda_graph_)
+        cuda_graph_->reset();
     entry.shape = new_shape;

One further risk: after a rejected setInputShape, the context may keep the old shape. The new test checks this path.

Stage serialized engine plans immediately through the existing file-backed
writer so the builder releases each plan before compiling the next network.
Default the family test allocator to expandable segments when the caller has
not selected one, preserving the FP32 eager reference and all quality gates.

Export the existing tokenizer and chat template in a standard fast-tokenizer
format that the pip-installed AIPerf client can load without model code.

This is a family-owned prerequisite for the image-chat integration in #1761.

Refs: #1672

Route image chat through the declared native Task, preserve full output and token counts, and verify request identity with source and tokenizer provenance.

Keep preprocessing and checkpoint corrections with each owner. Cover the full native InternVL3 and 3.5 checkpoint set, including optional dynamic image tiles, alongside Qwen-VL, Phi4, Lance, LocateAnything and DeepSeek OCR. Preserve all existing correctness gates and record remaining Edge-backed coverage gaps.

Inherit the independent Phi4 tokenizer and staged-plan memory fixes from the prerequisite. The integration itself changes five model families, within the existing public CI limit.

The dynamic-Sq graph already accepts one-token decode steps and multi-token prefill. Stage its plan for both independent runtime modules in tiled bundles, preserving the same cache contract and mathematical network. Keep one-view graph selection unchanged.

Validate plan identity and lifetime for both tile budgets. The fixed decoder fails to compile at context4096; no tactic policy, reference behavior or correctness threshold is changed.

Public CI OOM failures and local GB300 verification

Public Community CI run 39066671226, testing head c37ebabd9beaa76fea91d481a43ce93a01472eda, encountered memory failures on its 24 GB NVIDIA L4 runner with a 48 GiB validation-container RAM limit:

Case Observed public CI failure Local GB300 verification
deepseek-ocr-l0 TensorRT execution-context allocation failed while requesting 7,082,016,768 bytes (approximately 6.6 GiB) of GPU memory. The exact unchanged selected testcase passed: one executed, non-skipped case, approximately 333 seconds.
internvl35-4b The family batch was OOM-killed within the 48 GiB host-RAM limit while processing the final 4B profile; aggregate JUnit was not produced. Full owning-family E2E correctness passed: one executed, non-skipped case. PyPI AIPerf qualification also passed.
qwen3-vl-8b The family batch was OOM-killed within the same host-RAM limit while processing 8B after the smaller 2B case; aggregate JUnit was not produced. Full owning-family E2E correctness and PyPI AIPerf qualification passed.

For both InternVL3.5-4B and Qwen3-VL-8B, AIPerf completed 50 measured requests plus 5 warmup requests, with all 55 responses matching native execution and zero client errors. Their 10-input reference-parity checks passed the unchanged family gates (9/10 and 10/10 samples, respectively).

Evidence provenance: the DeepSeek diagnostic used source f23ecba943c67eae591ff0b32a6a1dc0f2f1b389 and the unchanged native runtime from f6fe94a53a38db1c8d36eb032895e2fad42f91a4; InternVL3.5-4B qualification used f6fe94a53a38db1c8d36eb032895e2fad42f91a4; Qwen3-VL-8B qualification used 798589ea05e6c39b15c8a48e92e565e25e7d9e86, with the canonical qualified profile's build controls and numerical behavior retained in the current PR; later Qwen changes add bounds handling for custom profiles. The PR description records the broader 16-model qualification and source provenance.

These are observed memory failures rather than reported numerical-assertion failures. Local GB300 passes do not establish that these profiles fit the public L4 runner, and the standalone minimum RAM for the two killed batches has not been established. No correctness thresholds or CI-eligibility changes have been pushed for these three cases. The current PR head is f23ecba943c67eae591ff0b32a6a1dc0f2f1b389; its fresh CI results are separate from the older failing run linked above.

Owner scope clarification: this integration covers existing model specs only. Commit e12fbc0441e648b9ebfa3ce8ebf7b2bea2e81ba6 removes the newly introduced internvl35-4b profile along with the other six additional InternVL profiles and their thresholds. Its measurements above are retained historical evidence, outside the corrected nine-model scope. The existing DeepSeek diagnostic and Qwen3-VL-8B cases remain unchanged and enabled as on main; no CI exclusions were applied.

Fresh current-head local verification

Both remaining existing cases were rerun locally from PR source e12fbc0441e648b9ebfa3ce8ebf7b2bea2e81ba6 on GB300, with the unchanged family testcases, references and numerical gates:

Existing public-CI case Executed / skipped Local result
deepseek-ocr-l0 1 executed / 0 skipped PASS, 348.39 seconds
qwen3-vl-8b 1 executed / 0 skipped PASS, 567.41 seconds

The native runtime was built at f6fe94a53a38db1c8d36eb032895e2fad42f91a4; its relevant family/runtime/CLI C++ sources are byte-identical to the current PR head, and runtime binary hashes remained unchanged across the runs. The builds and Python/reference correctness execution used the current PR source. The broader nine-profile AIPerf measurements retain their original source epochs recorded in the PR description.

The owner has explicitly approved accepting demonstrated non-required public OOM/hardware limitations after local verification, once the unchanged repository merge requirements pass. No model contract, numerical gate, model spec, existing test eligibility or repository merge rule is changed. Protected Internal CI is still pending at this update; no protected pass or merge is claimed.

Latest completed public run: 39073992477, on previous head f23ecba943c67eae591ff0b32a6a1dc0f2f1b389, confirms the same DeepSeek device-memory allocation failure and Qwen-VL host OOMKilled batch. The fresh unchanged current-head local passes above cover the remaining existing cases. Its InternVL batch included the newly introduced 4B profile removed from the corrected scope. Its separate Lance psutil metadata failure is addressed by the family-owned bootstrap already in the current head, with paired local metadata controls; the fresh full x86 build remains a distinct CI result. BERT, GPT-2, Qwen, timm ViT, Whisper and LocateAnything passed that public run. The managed GPU release and cleanup completed successfully. Current-head experimental Dev CI and required Internal CI are still pending; no pending status is reported as a pass.

Remove the seven new InternVL checkpoint profiles, their thresholds and the Qwen3-only extension. Restore the existing family E2E definitions and keep model specs and numerical criteria identical to main. Whole-group AIPerf coverage uses the nine already-declared native vision-language models.

Install psutil before resolving the unchanged family requirements. The
FlashAttention source build imports it while preparing metadata, and the
shared CI base does not provide it. Keep the pinned reference implementation
and all generation settings unchanged.

Undo the seven extra profile assertions left behind when Stage 5 was restricted to existing models. The original four-profile assertion now matches the unchanged manifests and E2E selection; all numerical gates remain unchanged.

Latest head: bdf62ed9da1ba9909f20c0bb4b549bacb63c2ce3. In addition to the InternVL assertion correction below, this commit fixes a reproducible Lance dependency incompatibility: the published public CI base pins ml_dtypes 0.6.0 (requires NumPy >=2), while the unchanged Lance reference requires NumPy 1.26.4. The family CI image now selects compatible ml_dtypes 0.5.4 and retains pip check. Isolated and full-family environment checks pass; 104,102 BF16 samples match the old version and Torch exactly; 20 family CPU tests pass. Fresh native package/SDK/CLI validation passes for all 136 families on this head, and the Lance full E2E rerun with that environment passed (one requested/executed case, zero skips).

The seven model cases and Internal CI success below are explicitly from 1495d31cf; model/runtime/test source is byte-for-byte unchanged by this CI-only commit. Current-head required Internal CI passed (automated result). Stable/CPU/docs/source checks, DCO, PR Metadata and CodeRabbit passed. The current public Dev run failed on the same DeepSeek L4 GPU OOM, then lost SSH during Lance FlashAttention wheel preparation (outer exit 124); Lance and subsequent model cases were not run in that public lane. Instance release and independent cleanup succeeded. The unchanged affected cases passed locally, including the full current-head Lance reference run with compatible dependencies. Public failures remain failures; repository merge requirements and model contracts are unchanged. No model specs, references, thresholds, eligibility or merge rules changed.

Reproduced the InternVL family premerge failure locally: test_every_internvl_case_requires_the_vision_oracle still listed the seven unrequested profiles removed from this PR. The same failure appears in public Dev run 39079674068. Fixed in 1495d31cfd41d7b1c5d0f3d68eeca38c4a5cdf2e by restoring that file byte-for-byte to main; the four existing manifests, E2E selection and all numerical criteria are unchanged.

Local checked-in CI verification from this source:

  • python -m tools.ci pipeline source-quality: PASS, including 307 architecture/CI/source tests.
  • python -m tools.ci pipeline premerge-unit: PASS, 1,550 Python tests + 266 C++ tests, with two existing Python skips.
  • The family CPU selection from tools/ci/e2e.py: 165 tests pass across all six vision families.
  • Source archive and native wheel validation: PASS for 136 families; installed wheel, native-library loading, SDK compilation and CLI checks: PASS in an isolated local environment.
  • Core TensorRT dynamic-input GPU regression and Qwen-VL BF16 GPU regression: PASS.
  • The unmodified E2ERunner._run with each family's existing premerge: true selection: all seven cases PASS, requested=7, executed=7, skipped=0, using a freshly built and installed native wheel from this source.
Existing premerge case Original model/reference gates E2E case time (s)
internvl3-2b PASS 248.96
qwen3-vl-2b PASS 303.22
qwen3-vl-8b PASS 426.82
phi4-multimodal PASS 504.30
lance-3b-x2t-image PASS 406.00
locateanything-3b PASS 415.03
deepseek-ocr-l0 PASS 323.43

Lance's first local invocation omitted TRTMC_REFERENCE_SOURCE_DIR; its native stage passed, then the reference setup failed. The full corrected rerun above uses the unchanged pinned bytedance/Lance@4baeee086648996f6ab12e673cbe461b0b149997 checkout, as configured by the CI family image. The original failed invocation is retained in local evidence; no test or model contract was changed to resolve that setup error.

At the earlier 1495d31cf head, both Stable Community CI and protected Internal CI passed. Public Dev run 39087150417 confirmed InternVL PASS and the known DeepSeek L4 GPU OOM, then lost SSH during Lance FlashAttention wheel preparation (outer exit 124); remaining cases were not run, and instance release plus independent cleanup succeeded. These are earlier-head results; the latest CI-only commit needs its own current-head CI. Local passes do not replace the protected result. The separate nine-model AIPerf timing table retains its actual measurement source epochs.

The public GPU base locks ml_dtypes 0.6, which requires NumPy 2. Keep the existing Lance NumPy 1.26.4 requirements and satisfy the unchanged pip check with ml_dtypes 0.5.4 in the family CI image. FlashAttention, reference sources, model specs and numerical gates stay unchanged.
