All looks good @sjvrijn. Perhaps, I would edit corresponding issue to motivate this change, as it is not clear why we do it. You can merge it now.

Description
Create a separate optional-dependencies section for documentation, and switched
.readthedocs.yamlfrom 'dev' to 'docs'.No documentation dependencies can be removed from 'dev', since we also have tests on the documentation generation.
Fixes #317
