[Bug]: "Upload as Text" strips most markdown formatting from .md files

What happened?

When using the "Upload as Text" feature to upload md files, the parser seems to flatten them and remove most of the actual markdown syntax.

To test this, I have created a test .md file containing a variety of syntax (CA-md-file.md). I've then copied the file and switched name and extension to txt (CA-txt-file.txt). Both thus contain exactly the same content.

I've uploaded both files using "Upload as Text" to Gemini asking it to compare, you can see the result in the attached screenshot. While the txt file seems to have been uploaded without parsing, the md file was somehow parsed and stripped of almost all markdown.

Steps to Reproduce

1. Download attached md and txt files
2. Verify they are both the same (include markdown)
3. Upload both using "Upload as Text" and ask the AI to compare regarding markdown formatting
