@lambertjosh not quite, the free model retry already has exponential back off.

the major issue here is that when one of these retries triggers it locks out model changes

so if you hit this and it backs off and backs off and your sitting there waiting 300s to retry if you select a new model in the chat drop down it does not change the model, that might sound misleading because in the UI the model has clearly changed but the underlying CLI has not it continues to try the same model that is locked out

the caveat to this is if you go into kilo settings and change the default model it will popup and say there is an active session you are going to break and if you click yes it then fixes the locked out session
