Tests

1. Go to any chat

2. Copy and paste the url twice and press "Enter" or hit "Go" depending on platform.
   For native apps running in emulators, the following commands can be used:

   iOS: xcrun simctl openurl booted "<INSERT_DEEPLINK_URL_HERE>" (e.g. xcrun simctl openurl booted "new-expensify:///r/5457316673649011new-expensify:///r/5457316673649011"

   Android: adb devices to get device ID and adb -s '<INSERT_DEVICE_ID_HERE>' shell am start -W -a android.intent.action.VIEW -d "<INSERT_DEEPLINK_URL_HERE>" (e.g. adb -s emulator-5554 shell am start -W -a android.intent.action.VIEW -d "new-expensify:///r/5457316673649011new-expensify:///r/5457316673649011")

   Electron: Navigate to the deeplink url from a browser and a popup will appear asking if you want to open it in the desktop app. Duplicated deeplink url example: new-expensify:///r/5457316673649011new-expensify:///r/5457316673649011

3. Verify that the 404 page is shown and is properly formatted.

  • I verified proper file naming conventions were followed for any new files or renamed files. All non-platform specific files are named after what they export and are not named "index.js". All platform-specific files are named for the platform the code supports as outlined in the README.
  • I verified the JSDocs style guidelines (in STYLE.md) were followed
• If a new code pattern is added I verified it was agreed to be used by multiple Expensify engineers
• I followed the guidelines as stated in the Review Guidelines
• I tested other components that can be impacted by my changes (i.e. if the PR modifies a shared library or component like Avatar, I verified the components using Avatar are working as expected)

  • Any internal methods bound to this are necessary to be bound (i.e. avoid this.submit = this.submit.bind(this); if this.submit is never passed to a component event handler like onClick)
  • All JSX used for rendering exists in the render method
  • The component has the minimum amount of code necessary for its purpose, and it is broken down into smaller components in order to separate concerns and functions
• If any new file was added I verified that:
  • The file has a description of what it does and/or why is needed at the top of the file if the code is not self explanatory
• If a new CSS style is added I verified that:
  • A similar style doesn't already exist
  • The style can't be created with an existing StyleUtils function (i.e. StyleUtils.getBackgroundAndBorderStyle(themeColors.componentBG))
• If the PR modifies code that runs when editing or sending messages, I tested and verified there is no unexpected behavior for all supported markdown - URLs, single line code, code blocks, quotes, headings, bold, strikethrough, and italic.

1. Open the app in a browser (https://new.expensify.com) and navigate to any chat.

2. Now the url should look something like this: "https://new.expensify.com/r/1234567891234567"

3. Copy and paste this url twice and press "Enter" or hit "Go" if on a mobile device. As if trying to visit the link. The url should look something like this: "https://new.expensify.com/r/1234567891234567https://new.expensify.com/r/1234567891234567"

4. This should display a clean error page with the text:
   "Hmm... it's not here".

It is a bit hard to test this on native apps, but if you add a new contact, you can put the link below in the url field, save it and when you click it, it should open the app and display the before mentioned error page.

(Notice "new-expensify://" instead of "https://new.expensify.com")

This works for iOS at least. I am not sure about android, but let me know if it doesn't work and I'll come up with another solution.
