Action Performed:

1. Navigate to Account > Profile > Status > Vacation delegate
2. Click into the delegate search/email input field
3. Begin typing an email address slowly
4. Observe network activity

Expected Result:

Search-related API calls should be debounced or throttled.

Actual Result:

SendPerformanceTiming is called once per keystroke
SearchForReports is called once per keystroke
A large volume of unnecessary API requests is generated.

Can you debounce all the requests in such scenario where the request is made after typing into an input?

Proposal

Please re-state the problem that we are trying to solve in this issue.

Typing in the Vacation Delegate search field triggers SearchForReports API call on every keystroke instead of being debounced.

What is the root cause of that problem?

• In VacationDelegatePage, the useEffect that calls searchInServer here it uses the raw searchTerm directly:

  useEffect(() => {
      searchInServer(searchTerm);
  }, [searchTerm]);

• The useSearchSelector hook already provides a debouncedSearchTerm, but the component doesnt use it
• This is inconsistent with similar pages like AddDelegatePage which correctly uses debouncedSearchTerm

What changes do you think we should make in order to solve the problem?

• Destructure debouncedSearchTerm from the useSearchSelector hook
• Use debouncedSearchTerm instead of searchTerm in the useEffect

 useEffect(() => {
        searchInServer(debouncedSearchTerm);
    }, [debouncedSearchTerm]);

• Also update headerMessage to use debouncedSearchTerm for consistency with similar components
