Action Performed:

Precondition:

• Create at least 16 workspaces

1. Launch Expensify app
2. Go to workspace settings > Categories
3. Type car in the search field
4. When keyboard is opened, tap X button to clear the field
5. Note that X button is responsive when keyboard is opened
6. Go to Workspaces list
7. Type anything in the search field
8. When keyboard is opened, tap X button to clear the field

Expected Result:

X button will be responsive when keyboard is opened

Actual Result:

X button is not responsive when keyboard is opened
When tapping X button to clear the field when keyboard is opened, it closes the keyboard and the search field is not cleared

@Expensify/design what behaviour would we want in this scenario? Currently we dismiss keyboard when tapping outside of input field by default, this is to prevent opening the workspace on tapping while keyboard is opened.

Given the precondition I don't think this should block deploy. The search bar also is a new feature I believe.

@Julesssss I agree that this is not a deploy blocker, but the X should indeed clear the input regardless of the keyboard being open or not, since that's what's happening on iOS: mWeb Safari for example, and regarding:

I tried reproducing ☝ this behaviour on iOS: HybridApp in WS > Categories search bar and that's not the case there, the X works in clearing the input value regardless of keyboard being open or closed, and also we can interact with categories while keyboard is open.

This leads me to the conclusion that there is an issue and this looks like a regression which we should look into and follow-up on, since it seems like on iOS: Native / HybridApp the workspace list search bar X button is not interactable.

@daledah If I'm missing something, please let us know!

@ikevin127 I already have a solution, just confirming whether or not we should change current behaviour.
