Device used: Motorola MotoG60 - Android 12 - Chrome
App Component: Left Hand Navigation (LHN)

Action Performed:

1. Open the Expensify app.
2. Open any workspace chat.
3. Tap on the FAB and tap on the "+" button.
4. Select "Create Expense" and complete the creation flow.
5. Return to LHN and check that the GBR is displayed on workspace chat preview.
6. Open the workspace chat again and turn off internet connection.
7. Tap on "Pay Elsewhere" on expense.
8. Open expense report.
9. Tap on header and select "Cancel Payment"
10. Return to LHN and turn internet connection on.
11. Check the GBR behaviour after this action.

Expected Result:

GBR should remain displayed on workspace chat preview after the cancelling the payment of an expense.

Actual Result:

GBR is not displayed on workspace chat preview on LHN after cancelling an expense payment in offline mode. When internet connection is back, GBR automatically disappears, despite the expense not being paid.

Please re-state the problem that we are trying to solve in this issue.

What is the root cause of that problem?

• We always set hasOutstandingChildRequest to true optimistically when canceling payment:

What changes do you think we should make in order to solve the problem?

• If we consider BE as a source of truth, so we need to remove line:

What specific scenarios should we cover in automated tests to prevent reintroducing this issue in the future?

• We should mock the expense report then call cancelPayment and verify that its hasOutstandingChildRequest remains false.
