changed the title [-]Android - Chat - Chat does not scroll down to the latest message after requesting money[/-][+][$500] Android - Chat - Chat does not scroll down to the latest message after requesting money[/+]on Nov 15, 2023
Root cause for second issue seems to be the delay that is associated on android with the navigation back from the request money page. Here is how we handle it elsewhere: (with a setTimeout)
Proposal from @esh-g looks good to me #31373 (comment)
Let's also try to avoid using setTimeout - (maybe we can find some other solution to make scroll working) - but in any case we can iterate inside PR

Proposal
Please re-state the problem we are trying to solve
Android - Chat - Chat does not scroll down to the latest message after requesting money
What is the root cause of the problem
There are actually two issues that I identified:
Root cause for first issue is that in
requestMoneywhile sending the event, we send it incorrectly for the report:App/src/libs/actions/IOU.js
Lines 883 to 884 in 0151ae3
Root cause for second issue seems to be the delay that is associated on android with the navigation back from the request money page. Here is how we handle it elsewhere: (with a
setTimeout)App/src/pages/home/ReportScreen.js
Lines 267 to 269 in 0a4ca7b
We need to send it to the actual report we are currently subscribed to and not the chat report.
What changes should be made to fix this?
We should use the approach used in line 883 with the dismiss modal logic of using the
reportID.We can of course make this into a separate variable like this:
and use this var for both
Navigation.dismissModal()andReport.notifyNewAction()As for the issue on android, we need to add
setTimeoutto this part here:App/src/hooks/useReportScrollManager/index.native.ts
Line 27 in 0a4ca7b
Just like we do here:
App/src/pages/home/ReportScreen.js
Lines 267 to 269 in 0a4ca7b
