What is the root cause of that problem?

The hidden input is not App code. It belongs to Plaid's own screen. After you tap Add bank account, the App opens Plaid's native LinkActivity. Plaid's UI renders the country picker and the Regions Bank input, and the App renders nothing (BaseNativePlaidLink.tsx:17-37 returns null).

Plaid locks LinkActivity to portrait because it doesn't support landscape. The App removes that lock in MainApplication.kt:51-58. Fix White page is shown instead plaid in landscape added that change. As a result, Plaid's UI draws in landscape, the keyboard covers its input, and the cursor jumps inside Plaid's field.

What changes do you think we should make in order to solve the problem?

On phones, bring back Plaid's portrait lock:

In MainApplication.kt, apply the SCREEN_ORIENTATION_UNSPECIFIED override only on tablets (for example, smallestScreenWidthDp >= 600). On phones, let Plaid keep portrait, as Plaid designed.
Keep the configChanges on the LinkActivity entry in AndroidManifest.xml:169-173. Retest rotation so the white-page bug from Fix White page is shown instead plaid in landscape #87752 doesn't come back.
The HybridApp build carries the same override, so an internal engineer needs to mirror this change there.

What alternative solutions did you explore? (Optional)

Add disableFullscreenUI to the input. This won't work because the field isn't an App TextInput. App inputs already set it (BaseTextInput/implementation/index.native.tsx:450).
Add android:windowSoftInputMode="adjustResize" to the LinkActivity manifest entry. This might scroll Plaid's field above the keyboard, but it's unverified and probably won't fix the cursor jump.
Leave it as is and report it to Plaid. Landscape support in Link is Plaid's responsibility, and this issue has the Not a priority label.

Investigation details

Flow: WalletPage → EnablePayments → AddBankAccount / SetupMethod → PlaidStep → AddPlaidBankAccount → PlaidLink (Android) → BaseNativePlaidLink → react-native-plaid-link-sdk open() → Plaid LinkActivity.
The App has no country step here. "United States" comes from Plaid's picker.
Open question: if Regions Bank uses OAuth, the input may be on Regions' page in a Custom Tab rather than in Plaid's pane. Either way, the input is third-party.
I didn't reproduce this on a device. This run could only test on web, and the bug is specific to Android in landscape.
Trade-off: portrait-locking Plaid on phones conflicts with the landscape accessibility goal in [$250] Other A11y: Global: The app cannot be used in a landscape mode.

Probably yes, on phones started in landscape. I'd treat that part of my proposal as unsafe until someone tests it on a real phone.

Fix White page is shown instead plaid in landscape made two changes: the orientation override in MainApplication.kt:51-58 and configChanges on LinkActivity in AndroidManifest.xml:169-173.
The white page happened when Plaid forced portrait while the phone was in landscape. Bringing the lock back on phones brings that forced rotation back.
In theory, configChanges alone could stop the white page. But the PR author, GCyganek, said the override was "the only working solution" they found.

I suggest you keep the override and fix this bug another way, for example with windowSoftInputMode="adjustResize" on LinkActivity. If you do restore the lock, rerun the steps from Bank - White page is shown instead plaid in landscape on an Android phone first.

What I couldn't verify

I couldn't test this on Android. This run only supports web.
Plaid's Android SDK is closed source, so I couldn't confirm whether configChanges alone keeps LinkActivity alive through the forced rotation.
