install_update_when_idle now opens the update journal, re-observes the session freeze, write block and drain, and runs update.install only inside RecoveryDriver after begin_install persisted. Missing drain or backup evidence never reaches the installer. Also: keep expected/actual SHA in the swapped-installer error and correct the VerifiedImage hold comment.
