AnanthKini1/README.md

Hey there! πŸ‘‹

My name is Ananth Kini and I'm a Computer Science student at the University of California, Irvine 🐜. I have experience across full-stack, AI/ML, and backend/data engineering but am always looking to grow and explore new areas of software engineering.

Here's what I'm currently up to:

πŸ¦… Software / Data Engineering Intern at First American Financial

  • Developed large-scale data pipelines from SQL Server into Databricks, automating data transformations, pipeline testing and logging for auditing purposes β€” reducing 15+ hours of previously manual work.
  • Improved pipeline efficiency by reducing records processed nightly by 99.75% for financial reporting. Thoroughly documented each stage of my pipeline making it easier for engineers to onboard and become familiar with the Databricks environment.
  • Will be wrapping up my current project by getting it into production and continuing part-time throughout fall semester in a more SWE-focused capacity.

πŸ“ˆ AI/ML Fellow at Breakthrough Tech

  • Completed coursework on eCornell across supervised/unsupervised learning models (K-Means clustering, decision trees, logistic/linear regression, neural networks) and AI systems (NLP, RAG, LLMs, MCPs) by analyzing how they are built internally and building projects through weekly labs for business cases.
  • Will be working with ShipStation Global this fall to develop a solution for them to predict each shipment's realized delivery transit time and on-time risk, and recommend the best carrier by cost-versus-speed trade-off.

πŸ’œ Technical Lead at Commit the Change @ UCI

  • Commit the Change is a club at UCI that builds high-quality software applications for local non-profits. As a Technical Lead, I will be leading a team of 15+ talented developers and designers to build a full-stack application throughout the upcoming school year for a non-profit partner to solve their needs.
  • This summer, I interviewed 13 prospective non-profit partners, evaluating them across different criteria (is the project technically feasible in our timeframe, is this project actually necessary or a nice-to-have).
  • I have also been heavily involved in recruitment for the upcoming year, structuring a multi-stage interview process (resume screen + short answers, skills showcase, coffee chats) as well as planning events like club fair, meet the board, and game night for students interested in learning more about the work our club does.

Outside of work πŸŽ‰

In my free time, I really enjoy playing/watching soccer ⚽️ (huge Manchester United fan), learning new pieces on the piano 🎹, and trying new places to eat with family and friends 🍽️.

πŸ“¬ Interested in Summer 2027 internship opportunities across software/backend/data/AI/ML engineering β€” feel free to reach out at aukini@uci.edu!
