test(RHIDP-18079): verify OCI TechDocs lifecycle and fix conditional caching - #5339
Conversation
Add comprehensive test coverage for OCI skill TechDocs across refresh, recovery, and extraction layouts (OpenSpec task 6.5). 28 tests cover: - Content equivalence across annotated-layer and tar layouts - Moving tag documentation updates with digest transitions - Same-digest alias documentation sharing - Partial refresh content retention after failures - Admission exhaustion when retained bytes exceed budget - Independent extraction and retention byte budgets - Default and invalid retention configuration values - Controlled inventory-drain recovery via reconciliation - Acknowledgment authorization, superseded revisions, idempotency - Publication and cleanup race safety - ETag and conditional requests (304 Not Modified) - Source isolation for multi-source configurations - Provider outage content retention without acknowledgment - Reconcile body validation (missing fields, duplicates, unknown source) - X-Skilldocs-Revision header presence across snapshot states Uses ContentStore mock to bypass better-sqlite3 native dependency and a no-op database factory to satisfy coreServices.database. Supertest uses URL-based requests for IPv6 compatibility with the test backend. Closes: RHIDP-18079 Assisted-by: Claude Opus 4.6 Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.6 <noreply@anthropic.com>

Risk Assessment: elevated (3/5) DetailsAlthough the PR is overwhelmingly test and documentation additions authored by a bot, two dependency files changed (package.json + yarn.lock), the blast radius is large, and the affected files show high 30-day churn (25 commits), 7 distinct authors in 90 days, and 23 regression-related commits, collectively pushing the score from low-moderate to elevated. Previous runRisk Assessment: low (1/5) DetailsPure test-only addition (1247 lines, both files are test/utility) by a bot author with no production code, security, CI, or dependency changes; large blast radius is the sole elevated signal and reflects test import breadth rather than production surface exposure. Previous run (2)Risk Assessment: moderate (2/5) DetailsSingle new test file (1,263 lines) added by a bot author scores moderate because the large line count and blast radius elevate the change-size composite to 5, but all other Tier 1 signals are minimal (no protected paths, no security-sensitive files, no dependency or CI changes, 100% test file ratio), Tier 1 averages to 1.5, and Tier 2 defaults to 2 for a newly introduced file with no prior history; weighted composite is 1.69, rounding to 2. |

- Remove inaccurate JSDoc claims (model-card regression, restart retention) and list actual test coverage areas - Rename content equivalence test to reflect what it actually validates (multi-image storage/retrieval, not OCI layout parsing) - Replace duplicated local startConnector with delegation to the shared helper via new extraFeatures parameter in testUtils.ts - Convert skillYaml to inline template literal to match sibling convention Addresses #5339 Assisted-by: Claude Opus 4.6 Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.6 <noreply@anthropic.com>
🔧 Fix agent — iteration 1 (human-triggered)Addressed all four review findings: fixed inaccurate JSDoc coverage claims, renamed misleading test description, eliminated startConnector duplication by extending the shared helper with an extraFeatures parameter, and normalized skillYaml to the inline template literal convention. All 28 tests pass, type check clean. Fixed (4):

We are taking over the task 6.5 follow-up with these decisions:
Changes remain uncommitted for review. app-config.yaml and production behavior will not be changed. |
|
Local follow-up is ready for maintainer review (uncommitted). Both active review threads have replies and are resolved. Coverage now includes the actual 1,000-digest boundary/drain, repeated partial byte exhaustion, held cleanup overlapping publication, persisted lower-budget recovery, and a real extraction→connector HTTP→provider→reader/MkDocs fixture path. All 842 affected tests and presubmit checks pass. The real-path test exposed a production conditional-request issue missed by the isolated mocks. The maintainer approved the minimal fix: conditional skill reads explicitly set fetch cache mode to no-cache, allowing the connector's matching 304 response. A patch changeset is included; public APIs and their reports are unchanged. Model-card behavior is unchanged. The maintainer will run a quick regression before committing. Task 6.5 is checked per explicit maintainer request, with precise coverage/mocking/manual-result boundaries in the preserved audit history and new verification.md. The PR description now links the public OpenSpec scope and describes the local follow-up; a separate GitHub issue and commit-attribution repair were unnecessary. |
…caching Exercise actual annotated, tar and tar+gzip extraction through authenticated connector HTTP, durable storage, provider reconciliation and reader MkDocs output. Verify distinct same-digest aliases and moving-tag URLs, independent digest content, repeated admission pressure, the actual 1000-digest ceiling and drain recovery, overlapping cleanup/publication, and reduced-budget durable recovery. Fix conditional OCI documentation fetches with explicit revalidation cache mode so matching ETags yield 304 instead of forced 200 responses. Add the reader patch changeset and assertion without changing public APIs or model-card behavior. Include only development dependencies for cross-plugin test composition. Document the complete 6.5 coverage matrix and maintainer instructions, preserve audit history, mark 6.5 complete as requested, and record successful maintainer regression. Validation: 842 tests across 32 suites, full types/build, three package lint checks, unchanged API report CI checks, Prettier, dedupe and strict OpenSpec validation. We will address the three latest findings with comments and formatting only. The registry-I/O mock deliberately targets the connector implementation so the rest of the connector/provider/reader path stays real. We will document that boundary next to the mock and the need to update its references when OciClient moves. We are not adding a public production injection API solely for this test; the claim that relocation fails silently is inaccurate because Jest fails module resolution. We will soft-wrap the new cache-mode prose in design.md and the reader README, and append a focused audit update while preserving all existing history. No runtime, public API, changeset or task-status changes are required. Changes will remain uncommitted for maintainer review after focused integration, formatting and OpenSpec checks. |
Document the deliberate registry-I/O mock path and the need to update its Jest references together if OciClient moves, without adding a public test injection API. Soft-wrap conditional-fetch prose in the design and reader README and refresh the focused audit while preserving history. Validation: focused connector/provider/reader integration test, full type check, Prettier, strict OpenSpec validation and whitespace checks passed. Runtime behavior, public APIs and task status are unchanged. Co-authored-by: Codex <noreply@openai.com> Assisted-by: GPT-6 Signed-off-by: gabemontero <gmontero@redhat.com>

Summary
Verify OpenSpec task 6.5 / RHIDP-18079: OCI skill TechDocs across extraction layouts, refresh, retention, recovery and authentication. The scope is directly available in tasks.md, section 6 and the TechDocs specification.
The provider's connector/reader dependencies are development-only test composition dependencies. Production dependencies, app-config.yaml, model-card behavior and other task markers are unchanged.
Validation
--watchAll=false.yarn tsc:full, yarn build:all, all three affected package lint checks, API report CI validation, Prettier and strict OpenSpec validation passed.
