You're likely not missing anything obvious. Google doesn't guarantee showing a favicon, even if all guidelines are followed. In practice, it often depends on "time, crawl frequency, and traffic", and low-traffic sites can take much longer than the docs suggest. This isn't uncommon. Best approach is to keep one |

Hi everyone,
I’m trying to understand an issue I’ve had for a long time with a website hosted on GitHub Pages.
The site has been online for months, is properly indexed in Google Search Console, and has no crawl or indexing errors.
Despite this, Google has never shown the favicon in search results, not even once.
What I’ve already tried (nothing worked)
I followed all official Google guidelines and basically every solution I could find online:
.icofavicon with multiple embedded sizes (16×16, 32×32, 48×48, etc.).svgand.jpg<link rel="icon">tags in the<head>noindex, norobots.txtblockingNone of the above has ever worked.
Current context
I recently did a major redesign of the site and I’m now starting to get a decent and growing number of visitors.
At this point, the missing favicon is becoming a branding issue.
