When visiting a GitHub profile page, the contributions graph defaults to showing 2025 instead of the current year (2026). This behavior is confusing because the header indicates activity “in the last year,” but the selected year does not reflect the current calendar year.

Steps to Reproduce

1. Visit a GitHub user profile (example: my profile).
2. Scroll to the contributions section.
3. Observe that the selected year is 2025, not 2026.
4. Manually select 2026 to see current-year contributions.

Environment

• Platform: GitHub Web
• Browser: Chrome (also reproducible in other browsers)
• OS: macOS
• Timezone: UTC+08 (Asia/Taipei)

Additional Notes

• This is not a data issue — contributions for 2026 exist and render correctly once selected.
• The issue appears to be related to the default year selection logic on initial page load.
• This may be especially confusing around year boundaries or for users actively contributing early in the year.
