When browsing through a file's content, I'm often wondering what other files are located in the same module to better understand the context and purpose of the code I'm currently reading. However, when navigating to other directories (be it the parent directory or a subdirectory) using the explorer view in the side panel, the code view in the main panel is replaced with an explorer view as well. This is especially unappealing on larger screens where all the precious screen space is given up for something that perfectly fits in the side panel.
What's worse, after having clicked on a directory in the side panel, the displayed content in it does not correspond to the directory I was navigating to but to its parent directory. I find this rather teasing and unintuitive.
Instead, I suggest to decouple the code view from the explorer view as soon as the side panel is displayed, i.e., navigating through directories does not affect the code displayed in the main panel.
Thank you for your time.
