Please help overload arithmetic metamethods

local pt2 = 0.50 * Vec2(10, 10) -- ?

What can be done for the case of pt2?

i'm not sure this is possible in lua, __mul is only checked for objects that have a metatable, but scalar lua_Number has no metatable.
