I would just install 4.0.3 if you want a non-life OS version. But from my experience, the 5.0 barely has the Life OS working without a lot of work. Nothing is wired up really. |

Hey @nick-walt, thanks for raising this, and sorry it sat for a while. We're changing how LifeOS ships. Instead of cloning a full That's aimed right at what you hit here. The old "one directory, one layout, hope it matches your setup" approach is exactly what broke for so many people, and the new model should handle it far better because your AI does the integration per machine instead of us guessing. So we're closing this in prep for that release. If it still bites you once the skill-based version is out, reopen or file a fresh one and we'll jump on it. Appreciate you taking the time. |

I asked Claude about how it would use the configuration setup in a Nix Devbox Direnv environment as a foundation / basis and starting point for Scaffolding. The answer is interesting so I wanted to post Claude's answer here for feedback and to suggest supporting Nix + Devbox + Direnv as a first-class capability.

It would also be great to have a graduated pathway to implementing PAI such as starting with installation into a coding environment with just the modules or extensions dedicated to code rather than a full Life OS install. Then as experience and requirements increased the various capabilities can be added.
