Numen is a spatial command center for persistent human-and-agent work.
It starts with truthful, full terminals. Each card attaches to a session in
Numen's dedicated tmux server, so changing views, reloading the renderer,
restarting numend, or quitting the app does not stop healthy work. Terminal
and Node modes are two projections of the same session; neither owns the
process.
The current vertical slice includes:
- Cate-inspired spatial terminal cards and a compact Node mode.
- A separate
numendutility runtime with versioned local IPC. - Ordered
(streamId, seq)output, bounded replay, and headless-xterm snapshots. - Claude Code and Codex activity/attention adapters that never store prompts or tool content.
- Per-renderer terminal subscriptions, Chromium sandboxing, and native confirmation before process termination.
Validated requirements: macOS, Node 22.12+, Bun, and tmux.
bun install
bun run devRun the complete local gate with:
bun run checkLinux is an intended target but has not yet been validated. Until prebuilt
node-pty artifacts are bundled, Linux installation also needs Python, make,
and a C/C++ build toolchain.
- A healthy process is stopped only by an explicit, confirmed user action.
- View mode and renderer lifetime never change process lifetime.
- Terminal is the truthful default; summaries are derived views.
- Runtime state and UI layout are persisted independently.
- Activity hooks observe state; they never control or infer process lifetime.
